President Donald Trump pledged to issue a $5,000 payment to every American adult if Republicans retain control of both chambers of Congress in the November midterm elections, according to CNN.
Trump made the promise during the opening night of the Republican National Committee convention in Dallas. He compared the proposed payment to a corporate dividend but did not explain how the government would finance it.
The report said Republicans emphasized border security, transgender participation in women’s sports and economic affordability. Trump also linked lower future gas prices to victory in the Iran war.
Democrats, meanwhile, were portrayed as increasingly aligned with progressive and socialist movements. Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman made a surprise video appearance supporting Republican Sen. Dave McCormick, while reaffirming that he remains a Democrat.
