President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Emmanuel Macron in Paris on March 13 to discuss strengthening pressure on Russia and expanding military cooperation. According to reports from Ukrainian officials, the leaders reviewed Europe’s security situation, Ukraine’s defense needs, and coordination among Western allies.

Zelensky said the talks focused on improving air defense capabilities and combat aviation. The report said Ukraine previously signed an agreement with France to potentially purchase up to 100 Dassault Rafale aircraft along with advanced SAMP/T air defense systems.

The meeting comes as the administration of Donald Trump has temporarily eased sanctions on Russian oil to stabilize global energy markets during the conflict with Iran.

Zelensky warned the move could generate billions of dollars for Moscow’s war effort. Macron said European sanctions against Russia would remain in place despite turbulence in global energy markets.
