Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had a “long and substantive” meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, focusing on efforts to achieve a ceasefire and lasting peace amid Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday, Zelensky said they “covered all the truly important issues” and expressed gratitude for U.S. support and President Trump’s “readiness to help bring peace closer.”

“We discussed how to achieve a ceasefire and a real peace. We spoke about how to protect our people,” Zelensky wrote. “We appreciate the attention and the readiness to help.”

While he did not elaborate on specific agreements, Zelensky promised more details would follow. The meeting comes amid a tense global climate, with heightened conflicts in the Middle East and increasing pressure on U.S. allies to maintain unity.

The White House has not yet released a formal statement on the meeting.
