Anthropic is reportedly preparing for a potential initial public offering as early as November, despite rising interest rates, market uncertainty and growing concerns about AI safety, according to CNN.
The AI company could raise up to $100 billion at a valuation near $2 trillion, potentially making it the largest IPO ever. The offering would surpass SpaceX’s reported $86 billion fundraising and $1.77 trillion debut valuation.
AI safety has also become a major issue. CEO Dario Amodei and other technology leaders have called for greater caution after incidents involving autonomous AI agents. Anthropic’s reported IPO documents warn that its technology could pose catastrophic risks.
Despite these concerns, analysts cited by CNN see strong demand for Anthropic’s Claude products and a potential path to profitability. The company is also spending heavily on computing infrastructure while competing with OpenAI.
