BP said Tuesday it had removed chairman Albert Manifold less than a year after his appointment, citing “serious concerns” over governance standards, oversight and conduct.
According to CNN, the oil giant did not disclose specific allegations but said the board unanimously agreed to dismiss Manifold. BP shares fell nearly 6% in London trading following the announcement.

Senior independent director Amanda Blanc said the company had been “surprised and disappointed” by the issues uncovered, adding that the board viewed the conduct concerns as unacceptable and acted decisively.
Manifold, the former CEO of Irish building materials group CRH, became BP chairman in October last year after succeeding Helge Lund.
BP has appointed Ian Tyler as interim chairman while the company searches for a permanent replacement.
The report said Tyler praised new CEO Meg O’Neill and said BP remained focused on executing its broader transformation strategy.
