Europe is battling an unusually early and dangerous heat wave as temperature records fall across several countries, according to CNN and regional weather agencies.
The report said a powerful “heat dome” is trapping hot air over the continent, sending temperatures soaring well above seasonal averages.
Britain recorded its hottest May day ever on Monday, with London reaching 34.8 degrees Celsius. France also logged its hottest May day on record, while Spain is expected to see temperatures climb near 40 degrees Celsius later this week.

Authorities warned the heat is already proving deadly. French officials reported at least seven deaths linked directly or indirectly to the extreme conditions, including fatalities during sporting events.
Wildfires, water shortages and sleepless “tropical nights” have also hit parts of Europe. According to experts cited by CNN, climate change is making such heat waves more frequent and more intense.
Scientists warned Europe, already the world’s fastest-warming continent, could face even harsher summers ahead as global temperatures continue rising.
