The UK said its aircraft would protect Saudi airspace from drones and missiles but would not carry out offensive strikes against Houthi positions. Britain will also provide an Airbus A400M transport aircraft to move defence equipment within Saudi Arabia and deploy military advisers to assist Saudi officers.

London warned that escalating violence in the Gulf could disrupt energy supplies, increase living costs and hurt British businesses. The conflict is also worsening conditions for civilians in Yemen.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s civil war has intensified. Al Jazeera reported that Houthi missile strikes killed at least 53 people at a military camp, although CNBC said it could not independently verify the figures.
