CEO Behind Cracker Barrel Rebrand Exits Company

Cracker Barrel announced that Chief Executive Officer Julie Masino will step down after leading the restaurant chain through a controversial rebranding effort that drew widespread criticism, according to CBS News.

The report said Masino will be succeeded by David Deno, the former CEO of Bloomin' Brands, on Aug. 10. Masino will remain in an advisory role until Oct. 9 to help oversee the leadership transition.

The change triggered customer backlash and reportedly erased nearly $100 million in the company's market value. Cracker Barrel later reversed the decision and restored its original logo.

According to CBS News, Masino also led changes to the restaurant chain's menu after saying the brand had lost some of its relevance. She joined Cracker Barrel in 2023 after serving as president of Taco Bell's international operations.
