Cuba experienced another nationwide blackout after its national electricity grid collapsed, further exposing the country's worsening energy crisis, reported by CNN.
According to Cuba's Energy Ministry, the entire power system failed on Monday, while grid operators began investigating the cause. Energy Minister Vicente de la O Levy said emergency "microsystems" had been activated to restore electricity to essential services as authorities worked to rebuild the network.
The United States maintains that its sanctions are intended to encourage political and economic reforms in Cuba.
Meanwhile, recent reform measures approved by Cuba's National Assembly have been dismissed by the U.S. State Department as insufficient, even as both governments continue holding high-level diplomatic and security discussions.
