Federal officers executed a search warrant at Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington-area home on Monday as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, the Justice Department confirmed, according to CNN.
The DOJ said Homeland Security Investigations carried out the court-authorized search but did not disclose the investigation’s subject. White House border czar Tom Homan confirmed the operation while declining to discuss further details.
Additional approval requirements apply to investigations involving members of Congress, whose legislative papers and communications receive constitutional protections.
Administration officials have previously raised allegations involving Omar’s immigration history and marriage, but have not publicly provided evidence supporting those claims. Authorities have not confirmed whether these allegations are connected to the current investigation.
Omar, first elected in 2018, has frequently clashed with President Donald Trump and his administration.
