Elon Musk has denied a report published by The Wall Street Journal claiming that SpaceX privately demonstrated an artificial intelligence-powered handset prototype to potential investors ahead of the company's anticipated initial public offering.

Responding publicly to the report, Musk dismissed the claims and indicated that the published account was inaccurate.

💡
The report had suggested that a prototype AI handset was presented during pre-IPO discussions, fueling speculation that SpaceX could be exploring consumer technology beyond its core businesses in launch services, satellite communications and space exploration.

Musk's denial, however, casts doubt on those claims and leaves the company's plans in the consumer device market unclear.

Neither SpaceX nor the newspaper immediately released additional details addressing the conflicting accounts. The company has also not announced any plans to develop or commercialize an AI-powered smartphone.

💡
The exchange highlights the intense scrutiny surrounding SpaceX as investors closely watch for signs of future product expansion ahead of a widely anticipated public listing.

For now, Musk's comments suggest that reports of an AI handset prototype should be treated with caution until further information becomes available.
