Epstein Files Whistleblower Simon Andriesz Dies By Suicide At 57

His death has drawn renewed attention to his earlier disclosures, but there is no evidence linking his death to that work.

Simon Andriesz, a former banker who examined business ties between Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Jeffrey Epstein, died by suicide at age 57, according to a report published October 2, 2026.

His death has drawn renewed attention to his earlier disclosures, but there is no evidence linking his death to that work.

Earlier this year, Andriesz searched publicly available Epstein-related files and identified correspondence involving Lutnick. He said the records showed the two remained in business contact for years.

Andriesz had previously told the BBC that he raised concerns about Lutnick’s Epstein connections with the FBI in 2020 and 2021, but said officials showed little interest. The CFTC later awarded him a whistleblower grant.

The White House previously rejected reporting on the alleged links as an attempt to discredit Lutnick.

The Commerce Department has said Lutnick voluntarily appeared before Congress and has not faced criminal charges or been accused of wrongdoing. Andriesz’s death remains a separate matter from the allegations he investigated.
