Ex-Israeli PM Calls Gaza Relocation Plan A War Crime

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has condemned plans for a “humanitarian city” in Gaza, describing it as a “concentration camp.” The plan, championed by Defense Minister Israel Katz, would relocate Gaza’s population to a zone in southern Gaza, specifically the city of Rafah.

Once relocated, Palestinians would not be allowed to leave. Katz also outlined plans for the emigration of Palestinians from Gaza.

Olmert, speaking to The Guardian on Sunday, equated the proposed relocation to ethnic cleansing, saying, “If they deport them into this new city, it is part of ethnic cleansing.” He called the plan “inevitable” and criticized it as an effort to push Palestinians out.

In response, Netanyahu’s office labeled Olmert a “convicted felon” and defended the military's actions as evacuating civilians, not committing war crimes. The debate over the plan has intensified as the Gaza death toll surpasses 58,000.

In an 8-1 ruling issued on Thursday, Justice Clarence Thomas found that Havana Docks “did not have to prove that the cruise lines interfered with a property interest that would have existed in the counterfactual scenario in which the Cuban government did not confiscate it.”
