Federal authorities have arrested a former U.S. Army veteran following an incident outside 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan, where he allegedly ignited a fire and fired an airsoft gun toward the building's entrance.
According to the report, the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Andrew Arrabaca, allegedly used fireworks, poured flammable liquid, and started a fire outside the federal complex before being taken into custody.
The report said the building houses several federal agencies, including an immigration court, an FBI field office, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.
According to the report, three people sustained minor injuries during the incident, including a bystander struck by fireworks and a security officer injured while restraining the suspect.
Federal investigators are continuing to examine the motive behind the incident as legal proceedings move forward.
