At least three people were killed Tuesday night when a helicopter crashed in Chatsworth in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, according to authorities.

Another person was taken to a hospital, although officials had not immediately provided details about their condition.

The helicopter reportedly went down in a commercial and industrial area near the site of an earlier fatal collision involving an SUV and a Metro bus. The crash sparked a fire that damaged several parked vehicles and nearby property before firefighters brought the flames under control.

The cause of the helicopter crash remains unknown. The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
