House Democrats have alleged that donors intending to support America250, the bipartisan nonprofit organizing the nation's 250th anniversary celebrations, may have unknowingly been directed to donate to Freedom 250, a Trump-backed organization, reported by CNN.

According to an interim report prepared by Democratic staff on the House Natural Resources Committee, confidential sources claimed donors received incorrect wire instructions, potentially redirecting contributions without their knowledge.

The report said such actions could amount to possible wire fraud or charitable solicitation fraud, although it did not identify any confirmed financial losses.

The report also alleged that Freedom 250 sought to place President Donald Trump at the center of anniversary celebrations while competing with America250 for federal funding. Committee Democrats claimed America250 has received only part of the funding it expected.

Freedom 250 rejected the allegations as a "partisan smear," while America250 said it remains focused on bipartisan programming. CNN reported that the White House and the National Park Foundation had not commented.
