Amazon has announced an additional $13 billion investment to expand its artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure in India, taking its total planned investment in the country to $48 billion between 2026 and 2030, according to the company's statement.
The fresh funding will expand Amazon Web Services data center capacity in Mumbai and Hyderabad, building on the company's earlier $35 billion commitment announced last December.
According to Amazon, its cumulative investment in India between 2010 and 2030 will reach $88 billion. The expanded infrastructure will provide startups, enterprises and government agencies with access to AI chips, managed AI services and cloud technologies.
The report said India has emerged as a major destination for hyperscaler investments, with Microsoft and Google also expanding AI data center capacity.
Brokerage firm Nomura noted that India's data center capacity has grown from 350MW in 2019 to about 1.6GW in 2025, making it one of the world's fastest-growing markets.
