President Donald Trump on Tuesday said India has agreed to drop what he called “one of the highest tariffs in the world,” praising the move as a win for fair trade. Speaking in the Oval Office, Trump said, “We are not going to put up with that. They have already agreed to drop it to nothing. They would never have done anything like this for anybody but me.”

The comment came during broader remarks on global trade, where Trump emphasized that countries must “pay for the privilege” of accessing the U.S. market and insisted America no longer needs to chase trade deals.
