Iran Suspends Negotiations With U.S. Amid Ceasefire Dispute, Claims State Media

Tehran's decision is a response to what it describes as ongoing ceasefire violations

Strait of Hormuz

Iran has suspended indirect negotiations with the United States and plans to fully block the Strait of Hormuz, according to a report by the state-affiliated Tasnim news agency.

The report said Tehran's decision is a response to what it describes as ongoing ceasefire violations.

Iranian officials also pointed to Israel's military operations against the Iran-backed Hezbollah group in Lebanon as a key factor behind the move.

According to the report, Iranian negotiators will no longer exchange messages with Washington through intermediaries. The White House and US Central Command had not publicly responded to the claims at the time of reporting.

A full closure of the Strait of Hormuz could further heighten tensions in the region and threaten a vital global energy shipping route.
