President Donald Trump has said the Iran war will end when he decides, while insisting that any resolution must guarantee Tehran never acquires nuclear weapons.
Speaking at a rally in Lubbock, Texas, Trump said the conflict could end quickly but stressed the need for a definitive outcome. He is reportedly weighing whether to negotiate a deal with Iran or intensify military action.
The estimate excludes $184 million in damage to US diplomatic facilities across Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, a Reuters/Ipsos poll put Trump's approval rating at 32%. Economist Mark Zandi estimated the conflict had cost American households $2,000 through energy, interest and military expenses.
