Israel carried out fresh airstrikes on vehicles along a major highway south of Beirut on Wednesday, according to Lebanese state media, despite an ongoing ceasefire between Israel and the Lebanese government.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that two cars were targeted near Jiyeh, roughly 12 miles from the capital. An AFP photographer reportedly saw a burned vehicle at the scene and rescuers removing a body. Casualty figures were not immediately confirmed.

The report said Israel has continued strikes against the Iran-backed Hezbollah since the April 17 truce meant to reduce hostilities. Lebanon’s health ministry said 13 people were killed in southern attacks on Tuesday, while more than 380 people have reportedly died since the ceasefire began.
The violence comes ahead of new U.S.-brokered talks between Israel and Lebanon in Washington. Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem warned Tuesday of intensified retaliation against Israel.
