Kerry Says Trump ‘Was Right’ About Border Crisis

Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry

Former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry acknowledged Thursday that President Donald Trump “was right” about the southern border crisis under former President Joe Biden.

In an interview with the BBC, Kerry said Democrats failed to address immigration seriously. “They just allowed the border to continue to be sieged,” he told correspondent James Naughtie. “Without a border protected, you don’t have a nation.”

Kerry said he urged Biden to take a stronger stance, adding, “I wish President Biden had been heard more often saying, ‘I’m going to enforce the law.’”

When reminded that Trump would likely seize on his comments, Kerry replied, “He was right. The problem is we all should have been right.”

Meanwhile, the White House accused Democrats of stoking violence against ICE, citing a 700% rise in assaults on agents. Trump responded by calling his opponents “somewhat deranged” during a press conference on Wednesday.
