Trade talks between the United States and India are gaining momentum, with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick signaling that a deal could be finalized “in the not-too-distant future.”

Speaking at the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum in Washington on Monday, Lutnick said negotiators had “found a place that really works for both countries.”

On social media platform X, Lutnick posted a video reiterating his optimism, calling the relationship “great” and predicting a mutually beneficial agreement soon.

The Trump administration has reportedly asked partners to submit their best trade offers by Wednesday, aiming to finalize several deals before a July 9 deadline.

India’s trade ministry declined comment, but top negotiator Rajesh Agrawal said talks were progressing well. A U.S. delegation will travel to New Delhi June 5–6 for continued discussions.
