Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with U.S. President Donald Trump in the White House, marking the first visit by a foreign leader since the U.S. imposed new tariffs globally. While the focus of Netanyahu’s visit was primarily on tariffs, he also discussed major geopolitical issues, including the war in Gaza, tensions with Iran, and the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant against him.

Netanyahu's office had hoped to address the tariffs, with Israel previously removing its tariffs on U.S. goods to strengthen ties with the U.S. However, Israel’s move failed to prevent Trump’s tariffs from affecting the country, which could cost Israel $3 billion in exports annually and lead to significant job losses in key industries.
The visit’s outcome could set a precedent for how other world leaders approach Trump’s tariff policies. Both leaders were also expected to discuss Israel’s potential annexation of parts of the West Bank.
