Netflix plans to cut roughly 6% of its workforce, affecting nearly 1,000 employees, according to a memo obtained by CNBC. The layoffs will primarily affect its product, technology, legal and human resources departments.
Co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters told employees that the company’s business remained strong and was on track to meet its full-year financial forecast. However, they said Netflix would make selective staffing and investment decisions to focus resources on areas expected to support growth and innovation.
At a Bloomberg Screentime conference last month, Sarandos acknowledged that Netflix was not expanding as quickly as he wanted.
