Poland is strengthening security along its border with Ukraine after Russian drone strikes near border crossings raised concerns among NATO allies, according to CNN.
Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said military engineers are reinforcing checkpoints and other infrastructure. Russia confirmed two strikes near the Polish border but claimed the targeted train was carrying military supplies.
Security concerns have also emerged elsewhere in Europe. Lithuania reported intercepting an explosive-equipped drone, which its president said was likely a Russian drone heading toward Ukraine before being diverted. Italy said one of its NATO fighter jets also shot down a drone believed to have originated from Russia.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has pledged stronger defenses along the alliance’s eastern flank.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump said Russia and Ukraine agreed to stop attacking energy facilities, but both sides described it as a US proposal rather than a finalized agreement.
