The report said U.S. officials, cited by The Wall Street Journal and Axios, alleged that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted commercial vessels, although no official confirmation has been issued.

Iran's Fars News Agency separately reported that a Qatari oil tanker was attacked after allegedly ignoring warnings.

The incident comes as U.S.-Iran negotiations remain paused during the funeral ceremonies for former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that negotiations would not resume while threats continue. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global oil shipping route under heightened security monitoring.
