Democrats have secured a projected takeover of the US Senate following the 2026 midterm elections, gaining at least four seats and overcoming the previous 53–47 Republican majority, according to major media decision desks.

Key victories included projected wins by James Talarico in Texas, Sherrod Brown in Ohio and Roy Cooper in North Carolina, alongside unexpected Democratic pickups in Kansas and South Carolina. Democrats also retained seats in Georgia, New Hampshire and Michigan. Combined with their projected House majority, the results give Democrats control of both chambers of Congress for the final two years of President Donald Trump's term.
