Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called Monday “an extraordinary day” as he stood beside President Trump to support a sweeping executive order aimed at slashing U.S. drug prices. RFK said the move fulfilled a decades-long promise that major Democratic leaders, including Bernie Sanders, had repeatedly made but never acted on.

“This was the fulcrum of Bernie Sanders’s run for presidency,” he said. “As it turns out, none of them were doing it.” Kennedy blamed pharmaceutical industry influence in Washington, claiming there is at least one pharma lobbyist for every member of Congress, every senator, and every Supreme Court justice — possibly more.
“This was an issue that people talked about, but nobody wanted to do anything,” he said. The order introduces a “most favored nation” policy to align U.S. drug prices with the lowest paid globally, something Trump says will bring fairness and savings to American patients.
