The Trump administration has asked the US Supreme Court to review its challenge against California's decision to count approximately 20,000 mail-in ballots. The Justice Department suspects some voters may not be US citizens.

The appeal follows a ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rejecting the DOJ's request to block a lower court order allowing the ballots to be counted. The petition was filed on Monday, one day before Election Day.
