Keir Starmer speaks to Preisdent Trump over the phone / Via X

President Donald Trump announced a landmark trade deal between the United States and the United Kingdom on Thursday, calling it the first “fair, open, and reciprocal trade deal” of its kind. Speaking from the White House, Trump emphasized that economic security is now recognized as national security by both nations, with plans to align export controls and protect key industries such as steel and pharmaceuticals.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, addressing the White House via phone, called the deal “really important,” saying it would create jobs, boost trade, and deepen long-standing US-UK ties. He highlighted the historical timing, noting the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day. Trump also said, "Brexit made this deal happen."

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the deal would generate $6 billion in external revenue from tariffs and open $5 billion in new export opportunities for U.S. producers.
