Trump Marks 25th Anniversary Of 9/11 With Tribute To Fallen Heroes

President Donald Trump honored victims and first responders of the September 11 attacks at a White House ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the tragedy.

Trump posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Welles Crowther, a volunteer firefighter known as the “Man in the Red Bandana.”

A 21-foot steel beam recovered from the South Tower was displayed on the White House Ellipse as part of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s “Steel Across America” tour.

Trump also announced that the Coast Guard will name a new fast-response cutter after Jeffrey Palazzo, an FDNY Rescue Squad 5 member and Coast Guard reservist who died at the World Trade Center.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation plans to deliver 343 mortgage-free homes this year, honoring firefighters who died at the Twin Towers.

Officials said the attacks targeted civilian and economic sites in several cities, while fires were reported at facilities in the southern region.
