Trump May Delay Todd Blanche's Attorney General Nomination

President Donald Trump said he may withdraw or delay Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche's nomination for the permanent post until Republican Sens. John Cornyn and Thom Tillis leave office.

The remarks came as Blanche's confirmation faces growing resistance in the Senate.

According to the report, the dispute centers on demands for written assurances related to the Department of Justice's Anti-Weaponization Fund and provisions involving tax audit immunity tied to a nearly $1.8 billion settlement with the Internal Revenue Service.

The report said the Senate Judiciary Committee postponed a vote on Blanche's nomination on Wednesday.

Despite the impasse, Trump praised Blanche as "a STAR" and said he intends to keep him in the role of acting attorney general while the confirmation dispute continues.
