President Donald Trump hosted a high-profile dinner Thursday with America’s top tech leaders, highlighting advances in artificial intelligence and pressing executives about their investments in the United States.

Around the long table in the White House State Dining Room, executives from Meta, Apple, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI detailed their commitments. Mark Zuckerberg and Tim Cook each cited $600 billion, while Sundar Pichai pledged $250 billion. Microsoft’s Satya Nadella said the company invests up to $80 billion annually. “Very good,” Trump replied, calling the gathering “a meeting of high IQ people.”

Noticeably absent was Elon Musk, once close to Trump but now estranged. Instead, AI rival Sam Altman of OpenAI took part.

The dinner followed a session of the White House’s new Artificial Intelligence Education Task Force, chaired by First Lady Melania Trump. “The robots are here. Our future is no longer science fiction,” she told participants.
