President Donald Trump said he has instructed acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte to declassify "almost everything" during his temporary tenure, reported by CNN.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Trump said he told Pulte he could declassify any material he considered appropriate. According to the report, the president expects Pulte to release records while serving in the position before nominee Jay Clayton completes the Senate confirmation process.
According to CNN, Trump has viewed the Office of the Director of National Intelligence as central to election security and has previously sought the release of records related to the 2020 election and his allegations of widespread voter fraud.
Pulte was appointed on an interim basis while Clayton awaits confirmation as the next permanent intelligence chief.
