President Donald Trump is reviewing the specifics of the new trade agreement with China, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Leavitt said the president is encouraged by what he has learned so far.
“What the President heard, he liked,” she said. “China has agreed to open their markets to the United States separately of this deal.”

Leavitt confirmed that the administration will uphold the terms of last month’s Geneva agreement, which laid the foundation for renewed cooperation between the two economic powers. Trump has not yet issued a formal statement on the deal but has repeatedly touted it as a major win for American manufacturers and energy producers.
The final agreement is pending Trump’s direct approval after discussions with his trade team.
