President Donald Trump has signed the $70 billion Secure America Act into law, providing long-term funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Border Patrol through the remainder of his term.
The legislation concludes a lengthy political battle over immigration enforcement funding that dominated congressional negotiations for months.
The measure passed the House by a narrow 214-212 vote after Republican leaders rallied support around border security and immigration enforcement priorities.
Under the new law, ICE will receive $38 billion in funding, while Border Patrol is allocated $26 billion.
During the signing ceremony, Trump praised immigration officers and border agents, describing them as essential to protecting the nation’s security.
He also credited House Speaker Mike Johnson for guiding the legislation through Congress despite its slim margin of support.
The law represents one of the largest dedicated investments in federal immigration enforcement in recent years.
