President Donald Trump will make an unprecedented second state visit to the U.K. from September 17 to 19, Buckingham Palace announced Monday. Trump, a strong supporter of the royal family, will be hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle. The visit marks the first time a U.S. president has been invited for a second state visit.

Trump will be accompanied by his wife, Melania, during the three-day event. The invitation, hand-delivered by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in February, was described by Trump as a “great, great honor,” with the former president particularly pleased by his stay at Windsor Castle.

State visits are ceremonial events meant to honor friendly nations, but Trump’s visit may also stir controversy. Past visits saw protests, and Labour lawmakers have questioned whether Trump should be honored amid his support for Israel’s war in Gaza and controversial foreign policy positions.
