Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has announced that he no longer plans to support the Republican Party, marking a significant break from a movement he defended for decades.

According to the Associated Press, Carlson made the remarks during a recent podcast appearance, saying he would not support either Republicans or Democrats in the upcoming November midterm elections. He added that he was uncertain about his future political direction.

The report said Carlson’s disillusionment intensified following President Donald Trump’s decision to go to war with Iran earlier this year. Although Carlson backed Trump during the 2024 election campaign, he later expressed regret for that support and said he had misjudged the candidate’s foreign policy approach.

Carlson also accused Republican leaders of prioritizing donor interests and foreign concerns over the interests of American citizens. According to the report, he described such actions as unacceptable and argued the party had drifted away from its core voters.

The longtime media figure suggested that many other conservatives may share his growing dissatisfaction with the GOP.
