Two people were arrested after climbing the antenna spire of New York City's Empire State Building in a dramatic protest that drew attention to security at one of the world's most recognizable landmarks.
The climbers, both dressed in black and wearing face coverings, reached the top of the building's 1,454-foot antenna before descending.
During the demonstration, the protest unexpectedly took a personal turn when the male climber proposed to his partner on a lower platform of the transmitter before the pair continued their descent.
New York City police took both individuals into custody after they returned to ground level. Authorities have not yet announced the charges they may face.
Officials are expected to review how the pair bypassed surveillance and restricted-access systems while investigating the incident.
