The United States has begun efforts to guide stranded commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, aiming to ease disruptions to global trade and energy flows, according to official statements.
The move follows President Donald Trump announcing “Project Freedom,” an initiative to stabilize maritime traffic in the region. The Joint Maritime Information Center said the U.S. has established an enhanced security zone and urged vessels to coordinate with Omani authorities due to expected congestion.

The center warned that traditional shipping lanes remain dangerous due to unresolved naval mines, the report said.
The U.S.-led maritime task force’s effort marks an early step to restore confidence among global shipping operators. The disruption of the strait, which carries about one-fifth of the world’s oil supply, has driven volatility in energy prices and strained economies across Europe and Asia, according to the report.
