United Arab Emirates is accelerating construction of a second west-east oil pipeline as regional instability and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to threaten global energy supplies.

The new pipeline, expected to begin operations in 2027, will expand the export capacity of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, commonly known as ADNOC. According to the report, the project is designed to bypass the Strait of Hormuz and strengthen the UAE’s ability to ship oil during geopolitical crises.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan urged faster completion of the project, saying ADNOC remains positioned to meet global energy demand when export conditions improve.

The report said repeated attacks on energy infrastructure and shipping lanes have reduced the UAE’s oil production capacity during the ongoing regional conflict.

The UAE recently announced plans to leave OPEC after decades of membership as it pushes to expand independent production capabilities.
