President Donald Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping assured him during their Beijing summit that China would not provide military equipment to Iran amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Speaking in an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Trump described Xi’s pledge as “a big statement.” According to Trump, Xi said China was “not going to give” Iran military equipment and emphasized the point strongly during their talks.

The discussion came after CBS News reported last month that U.S. intelligence agencies had detected signs China was considering supplying Iran with advanced radar systems.
Trump also said Xi expressed concern about disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy route. According to Trump, Xi wants the waterway reopened because China relies heavily on oil and gas imports from Iran and the Persian Gulf region.
The report noted that China purchases roughly 90% of Iran’s exported oil, citing the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission.
