Britain has set 2030 as its target for raising defense spending to 3% of GDP, while pledging an additional £10 billion ($13.3 billion) in economic and military support for Ukraine.

Finance Minister John Healey announced the measures Wednesday, describing the security environment as a new era of threats.

The package includes £500 million in urgent military assistance for Ukraine this winter, alongside loans and export finance guarantees. Britain also reaffirmed its commitment to reach NATO’s 3.5% defense spending benchmark by 2035.

Healey said the government would explain how it plans to meet these targets during next year’s spending review, emphasizing the need to manage public finances responsibly.

The National Wealth Fund and British Business Bank will invest up to £5 billion over four years in defense, dual-use technologies and related industries. Separately, Rolls-Royce will partner with the government on next-generation turbine engine technology through a £2.5 billion investment.
