US inflation accelerated to 3.7% in September, exceeding economists’ expectations and raising fresh concerns about persistent price pressures, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported by CNN.
The Consumer Price Index increased 0.6% from August, while economists had forecast an annual rate of 3.6%.
The latest figures could complicate the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy decisions. If inflation remains stubborn, policymakers may consider raising interest rates again to contain price increases.
