U.S. job openings rose slightly in July, signaling continued resilience in the labor market despite higher household costs and economic uncertainty.
The Labor Department reported 7.27 million job openings, up from a revised 7.18 million in June. Layoffs declined during the month, while fewer workers quit their jobs, suggesting employees remain cautious about changing positions.
So far this year, employers have added an average of about 61,000 jobs per month, while the unemployment rate has remained relatively low at 4.1%.
The labor market's stability is notable as higher energy and food costs continue to pressure households amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.
