The United States has formally requested the extradition of Philippine church leader Apollo Quiboloy to face federal charges of child sex trafficking and fraud.
According to the report, Philippine officials confirmed receiving the request under the 1994 extradition treaty between the two countries.
The report said Quiboloy was indicted by a U.S. federal grand jury in 2021 and was later placed on the FBI's list of 10 Most Wanted Fugitives.
U.S. prosecutors allege that women recruited as personal assistants were coerced into providing sexual services through force, fraud and psychological manipulation, including threats of spiritual punishment.
Quiboloy has been detained in the Philippines since September 2024 after authorities arrested him during a raid on his compound in Davao City.
The report said the extradition request marks the latest development in the long-running case, which involves both criminal proceedings in the Philippines and federal charges in the United States.
