Vance Says Iran Must Act On Peace Talks

U.S. Vice President JD Vance

The U.S. Vice President JD Vance said Iran must take the next step in peace negotiations after weekend talks failed to produce a breakthrough, as reported in a Fox News interview.

Vance said Washington had presented a “serious proposal” and progress was made, but Iran did not meet key U.S. demands. According to the report, these include halting nuclear ambitions, removing enriched uranium and accepting strict verification measures.

The remarks came as the Trump administration began enforcing a blockade on Iranian ports to increase economic pressure. President Donald Trump said the move is aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz and preventing Iran from disrupting global oil flows.

Vance warned that failure to reopen the strait could alter future negotiations. The current ceasefire was partly based on Iran allowing free passage through the waterway.

Despite tensions, Vance maintained that a broader deal remains possible if Tehran responds constructively.
