What was intended to be a solemn family gathering turned into a devastating maritime disaster on Tuesday afternoon when a vessel carrying passengers for a memorial service capsized and sank, leaving one person dead and three others missing in the frigid waters off the San Francisco coast, as per an Associated Press report.
First responders managed to pull 16 survivors from the ocean, triggering a massive, multi-agency search and rescue operation that continued late into the evening.
