Cameron Hamilton, the acting director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has been removed from his post by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, just one day after he publicly opposed dismantling the agency. Hamilton, a former Navy SEAL appointed at the start of President Trump’s second term, was replaced by David Richardson, a senior DHS official.
Asked about the removal, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “This is a personnel matter with regard to the Department of Homeland Security. But my understanding is that this individual has testified saying something contrary to what the President believes in and the goals of this administration with regards to FEMA policy.”
